Free Online Dog Training Tip One
Owning a dog is a wonderful time for all the family and if you have a new puppy arriving in your household soon it may be a smart idea to do some basic preparation work before its arrival.
Dog owners may face one major challenge and this will especially apply if this is your first pet, however if you take a little time to prepare yourself with some fundamental knowledge and adapt a positive attitude it will be a great deal easier than many people may tell you.
When arriving at home for the first time with your new puppy its a very good idea to take it straight outside into your garden area as the new surroundings together with the car journey will more than likely make it neccessary for your puppy to take its first toilet break.
This will help your puppy to become accustomed to its new surroundings and help educate it that the garden area is the appropriate place to take toilet breaks in future and this simple proceedure will hopefully prevent your puppy from fouling within your home.
Designate an area of your garden where your puppy is allowed to take her toilet breaks and immediately take it to this spot and palce it on the grass so that it can sniff around to gain familiararity.
Do not pet your puppy or play with it while it is on this area as you want it to associate this as purly an area for taking a toilet break and not an area of play.
When your puppy begins to relieve itself say a short phrase to it so that it associates this saying with toilet breaks.
You should use a short phrase and always use the same tone of voice.
After your puppy has finished make a fuss of it with affection and praise plus reward it with a small treat.
